In virtual event, Mickey welder gets a real car

A Mickey Truck Bodies team member in December was rewarded with a new car for giving back to his community. John Loftis from Mickey?s Southeast Fleet Services Center in Thomasville was the 2020 winner of the annual Vann York Car Giveaway in conjunction with fundraising for the United Way of Greater High Point. All donors who give to the United Way at the Caring Gift level or higher were eligible to fill out a car giveaway entry form. One finalist per week during a 10-week period was randomly selected from the entries by accounting firm Tim Ison and Associates. About 3,800 eligible United Way donors entered the drawing. Aaron Carter, a member of Mickey?s Beverage Team, was also a finalist.
The giveaway is usually held in person at Vann York?s local Toyota dealership; however, the 2020 event was held virtually due to COVID-19 restrictions.
From 2012 to 2020 Mickey Truck Bodies contributed $1,000,000 to United Way. During each of those years there was a 100% participation rate among the Mickey team in High Point. Mickey Truck Bodies is the only manufacturing company in the 90-year history of the United Way of Greater High Point that has accomplished a 100% employee participation rate for 8 straight years, according to Joe Barnes, Campaign Division Director, United Way.
?Mickey Truck Bodies has been a strong supporter of the United Way of Greater High Point for many years because of the work they do supporting our local communities,? says Matt Sink, Mickey CEO. ?We are making a difference in people?s lives right here in our backyard, and we feel good about that. It?s “The Mickey Way.”
