‘Best Year Ever’ Includes New Safety Record
Mickey Truck Bodies wrapped up it?s ?best year ever? in 2014 by setting a new employee safety record for the fourth quarter.
?We improved our safety because our employees have taken ownership of our safety program; they are driving the success of the program,? says Matt Sink, Mickey?s Manufacturing Manager. ?And we are approaching safety from a team perspective. You can hear it and see it on the shop floors. Employees are talking to each other. They?re always looking out for their teammates. They understand that one person can?t build a truck. It takes a team.?
At the beginning of 2014, Mickey did away with the words ?division? and ?department? in favor of ?team? to describe its various work groups.
?One of the keys to our record corporate year in 2014 was our commitment to teamwork ? our all-for-one-and-one-for-all spirit,? says Matt. ?At the same time, we implemented new communication processes between all of our teams so that everybody knows where we stand in terms of scheduling, production and inventory. That helped us to work safer as well as more productively. We couldn?t have hit the numbers we did last year without a healthy workforce.?
